Why Ink Color Matters for Laser Tattoo Removal

It is one of the most common questions relating to removing unwanted tattoos. Clients always want to know how their varying ink colors are treated during the removal process.

Why does it feel different when black is being treated versus red ink? It is all actually very simply and involves a small amount of basic physics.

So, light is delivered in varying wavelengths. These wavelengths can be visible or invisible, but can only be absorbed by a certain set of colors. It is the process of the ink absorbing the laser energy that allows the ink to be broken down into smaller pieces and progressively fade.

If your laser tattoo removal facility is using a laser that has green light (532nm), it cannot effectively treat green inks. The same wavelength that is ineffective for green inks is absolutely ideal treating pigments that can be found on the opposite side of the color wheel (in this case, shades of red).

The same concept goes for all laser tattoo removal technology. Eraser Clinic uses three of the most versatile wavelengths of light energy for the ability to treat all colors of ink. With our technology, we are able to treat the entire color spectrum by tailoring each treatment to what your tattoo needs in order to be removed.

We can remove blue, black, red, green, purple, pink, and brown inks (and everything in between!) with ease.
